Mud Room Makeover

Our house is small for six people but we love it and make it work. With four kids it gets cluttered very fast (the good thing is a small house cleans up fast) Our mud room gets so bad sometimes I decided to do something about it! I came across this beautiful mud room on this blog (which for the life of me can't find aargh) and took insperation from it!

I got to work right away!
Here's the BEFORE (I'm ashamed)

Jackets everywhere even tho we have hooks, shoes everywhere even tho we have shoe buckets (thats those green buckets under the bench) Winter hats and scarves thrown over the pile even tho theres a bucket for them too.

Here's our AFTER

I decided that we didnt need the clutter out for everyone to see :) To the right is our front closet. We put the shoe buckets in their on a shelf (the kids actualy like it better because they're higher) we hang our jackets up on hangers now and the winter bucket is on the bottom. This eliminates the clutter look but everything is still organized. I then painted the becnch black, which I LOVE, and aded some pictures! I had the mirror sitting around waiting for a project just like this however is was silver...it got painted to! I made the wall decals myself. I bought rolls of contact paper at Michaels and used my exacto knife to cut out what I wanted.

I also made this awsome record clock. The clock kit was only $6 at Michaels and was super simple to put together. The calender is the next to be re-done.I'll keep the same idea with picture frame and dry erase but I want to get a new frame and paint it and use decals to make the calender. When I do I will post it :)

So there's our new mud room. I hope you get some fun ideas.

21 Days of Organizing

Day 6: Dresser Drawer

Again I dont have a "before" pic (I told you I was behind lol) When we moved to NM from CA we wernt able to bring our big dresser...good thing too because it wouldnt fit! So I went and got these cool lime green closet organizers for our smaller iteams...and used moving boxes for shorts and skirts (it works for now but um in the process of getting a dresser) Hubby and I weeded out A LOT of clothes woot!

Day 7: Pantry

I decided to wait on this one because I am slowly aquiering the glass jars I want to use to organize my pantry...when done I will posts pictures!

Day 8: Coat Closet

I dont have a coat closet we have a make shift mud room so I decided to organize that.

Day 9: Toys

This one is quit a big task with 4 kids. Not something I could do in a day so I will post pictures when complete.

Day 10: Laundry Room

I took everything off washer and dryer and the shelf. Went through it and put only kept what needed to be in a laundry room lol. I got these really cute baskets at the dollar store and they were perfect.

21 days of Organizing

I decided to take the 21 days of Organizing challenge and get my house clean and organized!

Im a little behind on posting my pictures and showing my shame turned victory...but I am determined to keep up...

DAY 1: Junk Drawer

I took everything out and decided what I wanted to keep and got rid of what I didnt need. I then put everything back in with a place :) Wa-la better!!
Day 2: Compter Desk

Our computer area wasnt too bad. I took everything off and wiped it down. Hung the pink magazine rack I use to organize the kids school work during the year. Organized the paperwork, pens, pencils etc.
Day 3: Tupaware
I didnt take everything out of the cuboard because the top shelf was already pretty organized. I got rid of a things i didnt use and didnt have a lid. Matched up things and put like things together. I did tell hubby I would love the new tupaware sets that the lids snap to the bottom of the tupaware and then they stack together :)
Day 4: Linen Closet

Unfortionatly I dont have a linen closet *pout* To deal with this I put all blankets and sheets at the top of the closets in each appropriate bedroom. It actually makes it easier when I need to change them...I dont have to go to the linen closet and search for twin boy sheets or king master sheets. All the extra blankets and sheets for guest I put at the top of the kids bathroom (it happens to be huge for an extra bathroom lol)

Day 5: Under Kitchen Sink

I forgot to get a "before" picture but I have the after picture...I assure you it was a mess lol I put my cleaning rags and extra sponges in the clear box and put like cleaning products with eachother. The ones I use the most I put up front and the ones I dont use as much to the back.
